2. Experience in delivery of employment program
  • Designed and delivered MCC's COMPASS program (1998-2009). Promoted to project management (2006-now). 
  • Over 10 years experience designing employment programs administered through accredited institution, achieving high motivation levels among learners to complete their program.
  • Awarded 7 contracts requiring 8 consecutive weeks of daily group facilitation in areas of communication skills and occupational research. Funder specifically asked that "Marion teach the course".  
  • Jointly coordinated four 12-week Career Transition programs over a two year period for Older Workers in Transition.
  • Authored and jointly implemented a Career Assessment Program for an academic institution which has been offered once a month since 1992.
  • Formal training in group leadership and group dynamics at Douglas College.

Marketing experience

  • Jointly spearheaded the implementation of a branch office for a national corporation.
  • Jointly presented at two major career conferences.
  • Promoted MCC employment programs via church visits, portfolios, and presentations.
  • Marketed programs through interviews on cable television.
  • Co-ordinated two home-based businesses related to the fields of work/life planning and job search strategies. Customers were youth, persons stressed with loss of employment and/or with transition anxiety. Consistently received 9+/10 ratings.

  • Created a personal website for career planners, job seekers, and career practitioners. 
  • Attended BC's Career Development Conference annually since 1999 to stay current.
  • Participated in four career planning programs, including R.N.Bolles' What Color Is Your Parachute?
  • Conducted a 60-hour/week, three-month long, disciplined study in career planning and job search models.
  • Consistently research new information in the field; continue to build on personal library of 450+ books.
  • Assisted with five major contract proposals for MCC Employment Development; resume was included in four; summarized the labour market information for MCC's COMPASS proposal.
  • Certificate, BC Labour Market Professional Training.
5. Proficiency in Word processing, internet, and e-mail
  • Jointly co-authored employment-related publication using Microsoft software.
  • Initiated, designed, and delivered computer-based assessment classes for MCC's Passport Cafe and COMPASS programs.
  • Developed a labour market blog and wiki intended for unemployed shut-in individuals, as well as on-going post-program support.
6. Communication skills, personality and professionalism

  • Mentored by two psychologists, taught how to facilitate the delivery of communication skills classes.
  • Over 10 years experience designing and delivering workshops in interpersonal communication skills.
  • Awarded contracts from the Counselor Training Institute to facilitate and instruct future counsellors enrolled in the Certificate in Communications & Conflict Resolution program.
  • Developed a Mentor's Guide for employment mentoring program.
  • Awarded UFV's Leadership and Community Service Award at Convocation Ceremony.
